NEW DELHI: Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were severely disrupted on Saturday as dense fog blanketed much of northern India, affecting both arrivals and departures.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) confirmed that visibility issues were causing significant delays. “Due to dense fog, flight operations are impacted at Delhi Airport. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flights. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused,” DIAL posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Major carriers, including IndiGo and Air India, also alerted passengers to potential delays. IndiGo shared: “Departures and arrivals at #DelhiAirport are currently on hold due to reduced visibility. Once operations resume, flights may still face delays due to airside congestion.”
Air India, owned by the Tata Group, added: “Poor visibility due to dense fog is affecting flight operations in Delhi and parts of northern India.”
On Friday, more than 400 flights were delayed at IGIA due to similar fog-related issues.
