NEW DELHI: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized on Friday that the Centre would not tolerate malpractice or irregularities in exam conduct. He assured that the National Testing Agency (NTA) ‘s accountability would be enforced if any lapses were found.

Pradhan met with several NEET-UG exam candidates and their parents, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting students’ interests. “Students’ concerns will be addressed with fairness and equity. The counseling process will commence soon, and it is crucial to proceed without any confusion,” he said.

Government sources clarified that the FIR related to NEET in Patna was about “solver gangs” rather than a paper leak, as Congress claimed. NTA sources noted that the average score of qualifiers in Bihar was lower than the national average, with only one topper from Patna this year. An NTA official remarked that if there had been a leak, there would have been more than one topper from Patna and a higher number of high scorers.

The NTA has faced criticism amid allegations of irregularities and inflated marks in the medical entrance exam conducted on May 5, with results declared on June 4.
