The prosecution in the May 19 Porsche crash case informed a special court on Sunday that DNA samples from the 17-year-old driver’s parents are essential to investigate the alleged blood sample manipulation. The crash resulted in the deaths of two software engineers in Kalyaninagar.

Crime Branch Investigator, Sunil Tambe presented the teenager’s parents before Special Judge AS Waghmare and requested their remand for seven days through the prosecutor.

The prosecutor stated that police need to question the couple in the presence of two doctors from Sassoon General Hospital and a Class IV employee to understand the blood sample swap.

The police also aim to arrest two individuals, one who facilitated contact between the teenager’s father, a prominent builder, and Dr. Ajay Taware, and another who, on the builder’s behalf, handed over Rs. 3 lakhs to Dr. Shrihari Halnor. These men, caught on hospital CCTV, are critical links in the investigation, Tambe said.

According to the police, Dr. Halnor initially collected the minor’s blood but did not store it. Instead, he later drew a sample from the mother, labeled it with the teenager’s name, and sent it to the forensic lab for alcohol testing, Tambe explained. The police suspect that Dr. Halnor handed the original syringe with the minor’s blood to the parents for disposal and seek to recover it.

The special court has granted police custody of the parents until June 5.
