NEW DELHI: Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who is currently out on parole from Tihar Jail, on Tuesday called for a thorough investigation into the recent deaths of two civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Rashid—popularly known as Engineer Rashid—claimed that Wasim Ahmad Mir and Makhan Din were allegedly killed by security forces. Urging the government to take action, he stated, “Hamara khoon sasta nahin hai (Our blood is not cheap).”
Rashid was granted custody parole by the Delhi High Court on Monday, allowing him to attend Parliament on February 11 and 13. He has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since 2019 on charges of funding separatist and terror groups.
In addition to demanding an investigation, Rashid also called for the construction of a tunnel to improve connectivity to Keran, Karnah, and Machil in Kupwara, which remain inaccessible for nearly six months each year due to harsh weather conditions.

During the same session, Congress MP from Sasaram, Manoj Kumar, who was critically injured in a road rage incident in Bihar’s Kaimur district, expressed concerns for his safety. Speaking in Lok Sabha, Kumar urged authorities to ensure his protection, emphasizing that he still feared for his life.
