Female cop Kulwinder Kaur, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable who assaulted BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, hails from a family of farmers who supported protests related to farmers. Her relatives server in the armed forces, and two of her uncles—her father’s elder brothers—fought in the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Her brother, Sher Singh, however stated about the “far reaching” outcomes of harsh words used by the BJP MP. “Her reaction after the alleged incident that “terrorism” in Punjab is on the rise reflects how she can vilify Punjab, Sikhs and farmers without any hesitation,” said Singh, member of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee.
All of Punjab and Kulwinder’s parental village, Mahinwal, as well as farm groups and Sikh organisations supported this statement. Her grandparents.
Kulwinder’s mother Veer Kaur know her as a “well behaved” person who could not harm anyone. “I was part of the farm movement and sat at the Delhi border during the protests. Am I worth a penny as remarked by Kangana? She might have said something to Kulwinder first, otherwise she has been very well behaved throughout,” Kaur said about her daughter who joined CISF in 2008. Her brother also insisted the video tape of the said slap had to be made public to understand the details of the issue and said that the family could not speak to her post this incidence.
