An FIR has been filed against five students from IIT-Roorkee for attempted murder following an alleged assault on a 24-year-old MTech student from Jharkhand, who was attacked with glass bottles in his hostel. According to police, the suspects are currently at large.
Kishan Kumar Keshri, hailing from Hirapur in Dhanbad, was assaulted around 11 PM on March 23 at the Govind Bhawan hostel. After visiting a senior at a hotel near the bus station, he was ambushed by five fellow MTech students at the reception area. The assailants struck him on the head and face with three glass bottles, knocked him to the ground, and continued to kick and punch him until he lost consciousness. He was subsequently transported to the institute’s hospital and later transferred to another medical facility due to his serious condition.
A police officer reported on Friday that “Keshri is now out of danger.”
