MUMBAI: A flash strike called by 11 unions has led to the complete shutdown of 35 out of 251 Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus depots this morning, severely disrupting transportation across the state. While some depots remain partially operational, others are fully functional.
A senior official reported that bus services are running smoothly in all depots within the Mumbai division. However, the Kalyan and Vitthalwadi depots in the Thane Division have been completely shut down. Despite the strike, all depots in the Vidarbha region are operational.
“There is not much impact from the bandh,” the official noted, “but most depots in the Latur and Nanded divisions of Marathwada are closed.”
In western Maharashtra, bus services in the Kolhapur and Solapur divisions are continuing without interruption. However, in Pune district, major depots including Shivajinagar, Vallabhnagar, Bhor, Saswad, Baramati, and Talegaon are completely shut, significantly impacting services. Depots in Sangli and Satara districts are also facing major disruptions.
Additionally, bus depots in the Nashik and Jalgaon districts have been completely shut down, further exacerbating the transport crisis in the region.
