GURGAON: A 46-year-old trainee flight attendant has filed a police complaint alleging she was sexually assaulted by a ward staff member while on ventilator support at Medanta Hospital earlier this month. The woman had traveled to Gurgaon for a workshop as part of her training with a major airline.

According to police, the woman—originally from Bengal—was admitted to a private hospital after nearly drowning during a training session. On April 5, her husband transferred her to Medanta Hospital, where she underwent emergency treatment and was placed on a ventilator.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the assault took place on April 6 while she was in a semi-conscious state and unable to speak or resist. “She was extremely weak and vulnerable. Two nurses were present in the room but did not intervene,” states the FIR.

Following her discharge from the hospital on April 13, she informed her husband of the incident, after which a complaint was lodged at Sadar police station. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of molestation.

Police said they have recorded the woman’s statement before a magistrate and are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital as part of the investigation. “We’ve launched a probe and are working to identify and arrest the accused,” an official said.

Medanta Hospital issued a statement acknowledging the complaint. “We have been made aware of the patient’s allegations and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. At this stage, no claims have been substantiated. All relevant documentation, including CCTV footage for the specified period, has been handed over to the authorities. We remain committed to supporting the investigative process,” the statement read.
