The south Chinese port of Guangzhou is mapping its three-year development plan to strengthen its position as an international shipping hub.
According to Guangzhou port’s three-year development plan, the port aims to realize 660m tons of cargo throughput and 25.5m teu container volume by 2023.
Guangzhou port will accelerate construction of its Nansha port area, Nansha port railway and Nansha international logistics center, promote the fifth phase project of Nansha port area and pre-construction of 200,000 tonnes-class shipping channel.
Additionally, Guangzhou port will greatly develop sea-rail combined transportation and river-sea combined transportation. The port also seeks to encourage and support domestic and international shipping and port industry players to conduct business in Guangzhou.
In 2020, Guangzhou port posted a cargo throughput of 636m tons, an increase of 22.1% year on year, while the container volume was 23.51m teu, up 33.4%.
