KULLU: Extreme weather conditions returned to Himachal Pradesh on Friday, as heavy snowfall and rain wreaked havoc across the state, blocking over 500 roads, disrupting water supply, and causing widespread power outages. The situation was further exacerbated by avalanches, landslides, and flash floods, which added to the ongoing crisis over the past 48 hours.

Snowfall covered the higher altitudes, while heavy rain drenched the mid and lower regions. The Chandigarh-Manali highway was temporarily closed following a landslide near Banala in Mandi district, while another landslide at 4 Mile near Pandoh caused significant traffic delays. The Shimla-Kinnaur highway was also blocked at multiple points due to landslides and avalanches, including near Tinku Nullah and Jangi Nullah in Kinnaur.

Power outages in several areas further compounded the difficulties faced by residents.
