CHENNAI: A homeopath in Chennai is accused of killing his girlfriend and her father, using a concoction of chemicals to prevent the bodies from decomposing for over four months inside their apartment. The bodies were discovered on Thursday after neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the flat, located in an apartment complex in Thirumullaivoyal.

Samuel Ebenezer Sampath, a 34-year-old homeopathy practitioner from Austria, was arrested by police. Authorities allege that he killed his 37-year-old girlfriend, Cynthia, following a heated argument over the death of her 78-year-old father, Samuel Shankar, four months prior.

According to police, Sampath had been living with Cynthia and her father since September 2024. He and Cynthia had met through social media, and the couple moved into the apartment to care for her father, who required ongoing dialysis. Police claim that during an argument, Cynthia blamed Sampath for being unable to save her father. In the course of the altercation, Sampath allegedly pushed Cynthia, causing her to fall and lose consciousness. She died shortly after, according to the police.

To conceal the crime, Sampath reportedly used a mix of chemicals to mask the smell of the decomposing bodies, turned on the air conditioning, and then left the apartment to stay with relatives in Kancheepuram. The bodies were only discovered when the stench became unbearable, leading to a police investigation.
