Marine and offshore pumping system supplier Framo has awarded Hydroniq Coolers a frame agreement to deliver tube coolers for use in Framo’s hydraulic pump units that are supplied to Medium-Range (MR) tankers.
Under the frame agreement, Hydroniq Coolers will supply tube coolers that will be integrated with Framo’s pump skids and utilised to cool down the oil in its hydraulic pumps. Framo delivers cargo pumping systems to a wide variety of tanker vessels.
“We have developed a new range of tube coolers that are smaller in diameter and more compact than before. These fit better with the requirements of Framo, who is constantly looking to make pump skids even more compact as less weight equals lower costs and emissions,” says Lars Elling Gloppholm, aftermarket Sales Manager at Hydroniq Coolers.
Hydroniq Coolers has specialized in its production of heat exchangers to enable customized solutions based on standard heat exchanger models. Hydroniq offers more than 200 standard models of shell and tube heat exchangers with cooling surfaces from 0.2 to 350 square metres and diameters between 139 and 711 mm.
Framo has already made the first call-offs under the frame agreement, with ten tube coolers in total.
Hydroniq Coolers will manufacture and assemble the tube coolers at the company’s headquarters at Ellingsøy outside Ålesund, Norway, and deliver them to the Framo Fusa manufacturing plant for marine pumping systems, located southeast of Bergen, Norway.
“Framo’s cargo pumping solutions are renowned for enabling high vessel utilization, quick cargo unloading, efficient stripping and less slop treatment. To become one of their favoured suppliers of tube coolers is therefore a testament to the quality of our cooling systems and our ability to deliver,” adds Lars Elling Gloppholm.
Hydroniq Coolers is a supplier of cooling solutions and heat exchangers to the shipbuilding market and selected land-based applications.
