NEW DELHI: A woman Flying Officer from the Indian Air Force (IAF) has lodged a police complaint against a Wing Commander, accusing him of rape, molestation, and ongoing mental harassment at the Srinagar Air Force station in Jammu and Kashmir. She also claimed that the IAF’s internal committee dismissed her allegations without proper investigation.

The incident allegedly occurred on December 31, when the Wing Commander called the officer to his room after a New Year’s Eve party, under the pretext of giving her a gift. Once inside, the accused allegedly forced her into oral sex, despite her repeated attempts to resist.

In the FIR filed at Budgam police station on September 8, the officer described the trauma she faced after the incident and the subsequent discouragement to report it. She further alleged that when she confided in two female colleagues and reported the matter to higher authorities, an inquiry was conducted but eventually closed without proper investigation.

Despite multiple requests, a medical examination was delayed, and the internal committee declared the evidence inconclusive due to a lack of eyewitnesses, closing the case in May. The officer expressed frustration with the IAF’s handling of the matter, saying she is forced to continue working and socializing with her alleged abuser.

The IAF confirmed that they are cooperating with the police investigation.
