- Himachal Pradesh: Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely in some areas from December 20 to 24. Isolated pockets may continue to experience cold wave conditions on December 25 and 26.
- Punjab and Rajasthan: Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets on December 21 and 22.
Dense Fog Warnings
Dense fog is anticipated in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan until December 22, potentially affecting visibility and travel.
Temperature Plunge Across North India
Severe cold conditions persist across Punjab and Haryana, with minimum temperatures dipping significantly:
- Punjab:
- Faridkot: 2°C (Dec 19)
- Pathankot: 4°C
- Bathinda: 4.6°C
- Gurdaspur: 4°C
- Haryana:
- Sirsa: 4.2°C (coldest in the state)
- Hisar: 5.6°C
- Karnal: 6.8°C
- Bhiwani: 6.9°C
In Kashmir, temperatures plunged several degrees below freezing. Srinagar recorded its coldest night of the season on Friday at -6.2°C, slightly lower than the previous night’s -6°C.
Weather Forecast
The IMD predicts mainly dry weather across Kashmir until December 26, with the possibility of light snowfall in the higher reaches of the valley on the night of December 21-22.
Residents are advised to take precautions during the cold wave and foggy conditions, especially while traveling during early mornings or late nights.
