Five family members were found lifeless in their home in southwest Delhi’s Rangpuri Village as reported by the police. Police conjectured that the dead, a man and his daughters, died by suicide after the consumption of a poisonous substance.
The police was intimated on Friday morning. The neighbhours had sensed a foul smell emanating from the house and had called the police station. A senior police officer said, “We broke open the door. The father’s body was found in the living room. When we went inside, we found bodies of his four daughters.”
Police figured that the father fed his daughters the poison. The daughters in question, all four of them, were physically disabled. They were of the age 8 to 18. On inquiry with the locals the police found that the mother (of the girls) passed away because of cancer complications a few years back. The man was a carpenter. He was the sole caregiver of the family.
The police could not find a suicide note in the house. A crime scene investigation team and forensic specialists were dispatched to the location. Police reported that they collected food samples from the rooms, along with medicine wrappers.
The family had resided on the fourth floor of the Rangpuri building for eight years. Police said the bodies were sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of deaths.
