In a tragic incident, four security personnel succumbed to injuries on Tuesday following a fierce gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.

The encounter began on Monday when five security officials, including an Army jawan, were critically injured during an exchange of fire in the Dessa area.

The joint operation, launched by Rashtriya Rifles troops and the J-K Police’s Special Operations Group, aimed to flush out terrorists from the Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the Dessa forest area.

“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Indian Army and JKP was in progress in the general area north of Doda,” White Knight Corps stated via X on Monday.

“Contact with terrorists was established around 2100h, resulting in a heavy firefight. Initial reports indicate injuries to our brave hearts. Additional troops have been deployed, and operations are ongoing,” the post added.

This incident follows a successful anti-infiltration operation by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, where three terrorists were killed on Sunday.

Recently, Jammu division has seen a series of terrorist attacks targeting various locations across Kathua, Doda, Reasi, and Udhampur districts. These attacks have resulted in the loss of 15 lives, including nine pilgrims, six security personnel, and left 46 people injured.
