New Delhi: A day after discussing border issues, Indian and Chinese officials met again in Beijing on Wednesday to explore the phased resumption of dialogue mechanisms and address each other’s “priority areas” to place bilateral relations on a more stable path.

As agreed during Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s visit in January, both sides will continue efforts to enhance people-to-people exchanges, including the resumption of direct flights, media and think-tank interactions, and the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic ties. The Indian government also confirmed progress on resuming the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra in 2025.

Following last year’s Modi-Xi meeting in Kazan, bilateral engagements have resumed at multiple levels, including foreign secretaries and special representatives. Foreign ministers have also met on the sidelines of multilateral events, with a bilateral visit remaining a possibility. China anticipates PM Modi’s participation in the SCO summit it will host later this year.
