NEW DELHI: India has initiated ‘Operation Sadbhav’ to deliver humanitarian aid to nations ravaged by Typhoon Yagi, which has claimed hundreds of lives across Southeast Asia. As part of the operation, India has committed $100,000 each to Vietnam and Laos.
A special aircraft has transported 35 tonnes of aid, including water purification tools, water containers, blankets, kitchen utensils, and solar lanterns, to Vietnam. The devastating floods and landslides triggered by the typhoon have severely impacted approximately 40,000 people in Laos and led to over 100 fatalities in Myanmar.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted India’s solidarity with the affected regions, emphasizing that the aid reflects the strong ties between India and Vietnam.
