Israel has declared an immediate suspension of its electricity supply to the Gaza Strip, intensifying the existing tensions in the conflict with Hamas, according to reports. This decision, made by Energy Minister Eli Cohen, is reportedly intended to exert pressure on Hamas to release hostages and adhere to Israel’s conditions in ceasefire discussions.

Cohen emphasized in a video message, as reported:  “We will utilize all available resources to ensure the return of all hostages, and we will guarantee that Hamas will not remain in Gaza in the aftermath.” Additionally, his office has disseminated a letter directing the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) to halt electricity sales to power stations in Gaza.
