The Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully neutralized three foreign terrorists in the Gandoh area and dismantled a significant terror module responsible for recent infiltrations and heightened terrorist activities in the upper regions of Doda, Udhampur, and Kathua. This group is believed to be the driving force behind the recent surge in militant movements in the region, as per the J&K Police.
The mastermind behind the module has been identified as Mohd Lateef, also known as Haji Lateef. Alongside him, eight other individuals have been arrested as enemy agents, including Akhter Ali, Saddam, Kushal, Noorani, Maqbool, Liaquat, Kasim Din, and Khadim, according to the police.
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the module’s network to prevent further infiltration attempts and to safeguard the region’s security.
The J&K Police stated that the module’s leaders, in coordination with terrorist handlers across the border, played a pivotal role in receiving the foreign terrorists after their covert entry into India through the Samba-Kathua sector. The module provided these terrorists with initial shelter, food, and logistical support, guiding them to the remote mountainous regions around the Kailash mountain, where the Udhampur, Kathua, and Doda districts converge.
The police confirmed that the three terrorists killed in the Gandoh encounter had relied on the module’s assistance to evade detection and reach the higher, more secluded areas.
