Communications with landing craft BATIWAKKAL PERMAI with 11 crew on board, were lost on Apr 3 in Celebes sea in Sitaro Islands Regency waters, North Sulawesi. The ship left Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Apr 1, carrying 1 excavator and 4 trucks. In the morning Apr 8 fishing vessel MENTARI 888 found rubber boat with 9 people in it, members of LCT crew, off Morotai island, North Maluku. 2 crew are missing. According to rescued seamen statements, LCT was caught in rough weather, suffered massive water ingress, and sank. Rubber boat crew went into, drifted some 160 nm in 5 days before it was spotted by fishing vessel.
