Lloyd’s Register has made changes to the organisation and leadership of its maritime business following the promotion of Nick Brown, from a former head of the Marine and Offshore Division to CEO, to replace retiring Alastair Marsh last month.
Mark Darley becomes Director of Marine & Offshore, leading expansion of LR’s classification, certification and verification services, while Andy McKera assumes the same position at newly created unit Maritime Performance Services, heading up the maritime professional services, fleet management and fleet optimisation.
Meanwhile, Philippa Charlton has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer, to help drive growth during this new phase of LR’s maritime business.
“LR recognises that maritime stakeholders must rise to the demands of changing technology and the drive to decarbonise our industry,’ commented CEO Brown.
“With these three key leadership appointments, combining years of sector and functional knowledge and expertise, we can help our clients address these challenges, working as a trusted advisor and supporting them with the significant investment decisions we must all make in the decade ahead.”
Mark Darley is a Naval Architect who has been with LR for more than 20 years, most recently as coo for the Marine & Offshore business after having held various senior positions across Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
In his new role he will manage and expand LR’s classification, certification and verification services, tasked with evolving these to deliver on what LR calls “changing market expectations.”
Andy McKeran joined LR as commercial director for the Marine and Offshore business two years ago, having spent more than two decades working in the marine, offshore and naval sectors for Cegelec, Alstom, Converteam and General Electric.
He will be in charge of expanding LR’s performance management, fleet management and fleet optimisation business, combining the group’s extensive technical expertise with its digital products and services, a portfolio that now includes Hanseaticsoft, SeaSafe and i4 Insight.
Philippa Charlton, formerly Marketing Director of LR’s Business Assurance Division and before that having worked in the recycling and maritime security industries, will take charge of the LR brand, as well as strategic marketing activities. She describes her aims as to “accelerate our digital transformation and build a truly differentiated offering for our clients across LR’s global customer base.”
