Shipping group Maersk said on Friday the freight train that collided with a passenger train in the Czech Republic on Wednesday carried Maersk cargo, and it was assessing any damage to its containers onboard.
Four people from Slovakia and Ukraine were killed and more than 20 injured when a passenger express train and a freight train collided in the Czech city of Pardubice late on Wednesday.
Denmark’s Maersk said in a statement, train operation between Kostenice and Pardubice had been suspended with repairs of the junction expected to take days, and alternative routes were not an option.
“Due to the situation, we are expecting substantial delays to cargo on rail,” it said.
