MUMBAI: A significant water supply disruption is affecting multiple civic wards in Mumbai following a major leakage on the Tansa West Water Pipeline near the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road Bridge in Powai, detected early Tuesday morning.
The affected wards include:
- S Ward: Parts of Bhandup and Powai
- K-East Ward: Andheri East, Jogeshwari, and Vile Parle
- G-North Ward: Dadar and Dharavi
- H-East Ward: Bandra East, Kalina, and Santacruz
The water supply from the Tansa pipeline was immediately halted to address the issue. Repair work commenced urgently and is expected to take approximately 24 hours to complete.
“During the repairs, the water supply from Powai to Dharavi via the pipeline will remain suspended. Citizens in the affected areas are advised to use water judiciously during this period,” stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The repairs involve isolating the main pipeline from Powai to Maroshi to resolve the leakage. The BMC has assured residents that efforts are being made to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.
