A man aged 26 in Kota district climbed a mobile tower on Sunday and promised to end his life due to his tractor-trolley being confiscated.
This came after a demonstration in Jaipur, during which two individuals occupied a water tank for two days insisting on the cancellation of a sub inspector recruitment test.
Authorities reported that a man, known as Rohan Gurjar, was allegedly carrying ‘bajri’ for construction purposes from the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary.
Gurjar uploaded a 36-second video taken at the mobile tower in Nimoda Harji village, where he threatened to end his life and blamed forest and police officials for his actions.
Authorities successfully persuaded Gurjar to come down after two hours by guaranteeing the return of his trolley. Authorities stated that he supposedly left it behind upon seeing a team from the forest department.
Gurjar ascended a mobile tower at approximately 12.30 pm on Sunday, prompting a quick response from police and forest officials. SHO Ranjeet Singh of Digod police station mentioned that they convinced him to descend by promising that his tractor-trailer would be returned without any consequences.
Following their attempts, Gurjar left the tower at approximately 2.30 pm. The SHO affirmed that he had taken no action against Gurjar, emphasizing that the forest officials had not confiscated the tractor-trolley as Gurjar had left it on his own.
Forest officials reported that Gurjar, who was unlawfully moving ‘bajri’ from the National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary, ran away when a team from the forest department appeared. Before fleeing, he had emptied his tractor-trailer and abandoned it.
Gurjar’s involvement in illegal bajri mining is a widely recognized fact among locals, yet no legal action has been taken against him. After the situation calms down, we will take action,” stated Durgesh Kahar, the forest ranger of the region.
Situated where Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh meet along the Chambal River, the National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary is a large ecological reserve jointly managed by the three states.
In Jaipur, two men ended their protest on Tuesday after being perched atop a water tank for 50 hours, calling for the cancellation of a sub-inspector recruitment exam. Rajasthan minister Kirodi Lal Meena ascended the tank to communicate with them and managed to convince them to descend.
Laduram Chaudhary (35) and Vikas Bidhuri (34) had gone without eating or drinking since Sunday. Meena promised them that he would set up a meeting with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma following the Assembly bypolls.
