LONDON: The search for a 22-year-old Kerala student, Santra Elizabath Saju, missing since December 6, ended in tragedy as Scotland Police discovered a body believed to be hers in the Almond River near Newbridge, Edinburgh.

Santra, a native of Kolenchery and a student at Heriot-Watt University, was last seen at an Asda store in Livingston, west of Edinburgh, between 9:10 PM and 9:45 PM on December 6. She was wearing a black face mask at the time.

Friends and family, deeply distressed by her disappearance, described it as “very out of character.”

In a statement, police said, “Formal identification is yet to take place; however, the family of Santra Saju has been informed.” Authorities added that her death is not being treated as suspicious, indicating no evidence of third-party involvement.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through her community and among fellow students at the university.
