After a pair of earthquakes in southeastern Turkey caused extensive destruction and left millions of individuals needing temporary shelters, several earthquake victims sought refuge in maritime vessels and trains, in addition to tents and container cities provided by the government and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
The ship, MSC Aurelia, became an accommodation for the victims during the February earthquakes with epicentres in Kamhramanmarash, set sail from southern Turkey’s Port of Lenerunrun.
MSC Aurelia was moored in Iskenderun on 21 February, delivering humanitarian cargo from the Italian Napoli for all victims in Turkey’s distress zone.
Besides, over 1000 victims from the natural disaster zone were placed temporarily on the vessel. Here, they were given three meals each day.
In Ramadan, a fast-breaking dinner was conducted for earthquake victims with the participation of Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Transport and Infrastructure Minister, and Fatih Dönmez, the Minister of Energy and Natural.

Over 50 thousand individuals became the victims of earthquakes on 6 February, with the epicentre in Kahramanmaraş.
