In the shocking Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, Kaveri Nakhwa was tragically run over by accused Rajrishi Bidawat near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) after being dragged for 1.5 kilometers by Mihir Shah. The investigation has revealed disturbing details about the incident, as reported by PTI.
According to an official statement to PTI, Mihir Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, a Palghar Shiv Sena leader, played a significant role in aiding his son’s escape and had even planned to tow away the vehicle involved.
Mihir Shah (24), currently on the run, was allegedly driving the BMW that fatally struck Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and injured her husband, Pradeep, while they were on their two-wheeler in Worli on Sunday morning. Rajrishi Bidawat, who has been arrested, was the other occupant in the car.
Investigation Findings in the Mumbai BMW Hit-and-Run Case
CCTV footage presented by Mumbai Police in court on Monday captured the harrowing sequence of events. The footage showed Kaveri Nakhwa being dragged by the BMW for 1.5 kilometers. It also depicted Mihir Shah and Rajrishi Bidawat pulling her off the bonnet, placing her on the road, and then reversing the vehicle to run her over again.
After dragging her from Worli, the suspects stopped the car just before BWSL and removed Kaveri, who had become entangled in the vehicle’s tyre. Rajrishi Bidawat then took the wheel and reversed over the victim. The duo then fled the scene.
“They sped towards Kala Nagar, where the vehicle’s engine stalled. Mihir Shah then called his father Rajesh Shah from Rajrishi Bidawat’s phone to inform him of the accident and the car stalling. Rajesh Shah arrived in a Mercedes, instructed Mihir to flee, and later planned to tow the BMW,” an official revealed to PTI.
However, thanks to the timely alert by Pradeep Nakhwa and an eyewitness, police patrol quickly arrived at Kala Nagar and apprehended Rajesh Shah and Rajrishi Bidawat.
Meanwhile, Mumbai police have formed 11 teams and enlisted the Crime Branch to apprehend Mihir Shah. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him.
