New Delhi: A dramatic incident unfolded at Karkardooma Court when an accused in a murder case, identified as Salman, allegedly attacked his co-defendant, Afsar, with a sharp piece of tile during a court hearing. The incident occurred while Special Judge Alok Shukla was presiding over the case.
Salman reportedly attacked Afsar out of frustration after Afsar had secured bail a few days earlier, while Salman remained in custody. The attack left Afsar with a 7×1 cm injury on his left cheek and neck. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police have registered a separate case against Salman under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means. During questioning, Salman admitted that he was upset not only because Afsar received bail but also because Afsar did not visit him in jail after his release.
The court was hearing a murder case involving the two men, related to an incident that occurred in Krishna Nagar in 2021. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
