A three-storey building collapsed in Navi Mumbai’s Shahbaz village early Saturday morning, leaving at least two individuals feared trapped under the debris. Rescue efforts by the police, fire brigade, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are currently underway.

Kailas Shinde, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner, reported that the incident occurred around 5 am. “This is a G+3 building located in Shahbaz village, which falls under the Belapur ward. The building housed 13 flats. So far, two people have been rescued and two are likely still trapped. NDRF teams are actively working on the site,” Shinde informed reporters.

The two rescued individuals have been hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition. Shinde noted that the building was 10 years old and an investigation is ongoing. Authorities plan to take action against the building’s owner.
