The NEET-PG, recently postponed, is expected to be conducted in August, pending final clearances from the government, according to sources at the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

“We need to give examinees at least four weeks’ notice from the announcement date. Therefore, it’s likely the exam will be held next month,” the sources stated.

The NBE, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, is responsible for administering these exams. The Centre had postponed NEET-PG on June 22 following allegations of a paper leak in NEET-UG, which determines eligibility for undergraduate medical programs in government and private colleges. This decision was made as a precaution to thoroughly assess the security of NEET-PG’s admission processes.

With nearly 70,000 postgraduate seats in government and private medical colleges and over two lakh applicants for NEET-PG this year, the exam will determine eligibility for various specialty courses.

To ensure the integrity of the examination, the NBE plans to implement additional security measures. “We intend to increase the number of invigilators and establish central command centers to monitor the entire process,” a source revealed.
