BENGALURU: In one of the city’s largest drug busts, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Squad apprehended a Nigerian national in Bengaluru and seized 12 kilograms of MDMA crystals valued at ₹24 crore, city police commissioner B. Dayananda announced on Tuesday.
The arrested woman, identified as Roselime (40), was residing in TC Palya and operated a grocery shop, which investigators allege was a front for her drug-peddling activities. Acting on credible information, the CCB Narcotics team raided her premises and detained her.
“This is one of the largest drug seizures in Bengaluru and Karnataka,” said Commissioner Dayananda. “The Narcotics Control Wing of the CCB has successfully dismantled an international drug network. They recovered 12 kilograms of pure MDMA crystals, both white and yellow, with a total value of approximately ₹24 crore.”
According to the police, Roselime arrived in Bengaluru on a business visa five years ago but overstayed after her visa expired. During interrogation, she reportedly admitted to her involvement in drug trafficking and confessed to selling drugs at high prices to earn illegal income.
An investigation has been launched to identify her suppliers and her connections, including a Mumbai-based woman suspected to be linked to the drug racket. “The team is working to trace the supplier and understand the role of the Mumbai-based individual,” Dayananda said. The investigation also aims to uncover the purpose of 70 SIM cards found during the raid.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act.
