Nova Algoma finalized the order for a new modern 38,000 tons pneumatic cement carrier, the biggest of this type in the world. Delivery of this vessel is scheduled for 2027 and will be chartered under a long-term contract by Holcim. By increasing the quantity intake and burning green methanol, the CO2 emissions on these shipments will be reduced by more than 60% per year in comparison to current freight flows, i.e. 180,000 tons of CO2 reduction over a period of 10 years.

Both companies are Signatories to the Sea Cargo Charter, an Association of charterers and shipowners committed to CO2 transparency and promotion of international shipping’s decarbonization.

This development is in line with both companies’ environmental commitment and vision for a sustainable maritime future.
