Prime Minister, Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Thursday morning after completing his visits to Russia and Austria.
Following his return, PM Modi shared a post on X expressing gratitude to Austria’s Chancellor, government, and people for their warm welcome and hospitality. He described the visit as immensely productive and historic.
“My visit to Austria has been historic and immensely productive. New vigour has been added to the friendship between our nations. I am glad to have attended diverse programmes while in Vienna. Gratitude to Chancellor @karlnehammer, the Austrian Government and people for their hospitality and affection,” PM Modi stated on X.
Community Event in Vienna
During his visit to Vienna, PM Modi attended a community event where he was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora with chants of ‘Modi, Modi’. This visit marked the first time in 41 years that an Indian, Prime Minister had visited Austria, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of India-Austria relations.
Appreciation from Austrian Chancellor
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer praised the teams involved in organizing PM Modi’s successful state visit. In a post on X, Nehammer acknowledged the dedication and hard work of numerous individuals and teams, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Army, the police, protocol officers, and many others behind the scenes.

Cultural and Skill Development Initiatives
PM Modi and Chancellor Nehammer discussed the growing interest among Austrians in yoga and Ayurveda and emphasized the importance of skill development and the mobility of skilled personnel. They welcomed the operationalisation of the bilateral Migration and Mobility Agreement, which facilitates such exchanges while combating irregular migration.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
PM Modi held significant meetings with Austrian leaders, including Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Nehammer, to enhance bilateral cooperation and explore new collaboration avenues between India and Austria.
PM Modi also highlighted his interactions with business leaders from both countries, expressing mutual confidence in boosting commercial and trade linkages.
“Met business leaders from India and Austria. Our nations are confident of leveraging the many opportunities ahead to boost commercial and trade linkages,” he stated.
Prior Visit to Russia
Before arriving in Austria, PM Modi was on a two-day official visit to Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
