VISAKHAPATNAM: On his first visit to Andhra Pradesh since the NDA government assumed office after the assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stones and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam.
Speaking at a public meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the development of Andhra Pradesh was a key part of the government’s vision. “Serving the people of Andhra Pradesh is our commitment, and their development is our vision,” he said, adding that the state has set an ambitious target to become a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047.
Modi assured that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would receive full support from the Union government in achieving this goal. “We are committed to building a prosperous, modern Andhra Pradesh. The infrastructure revolution here—improving connectivity and facilities—will completely transform the state,” he stated.
One of the key announcements was the laying of the foundation stone for the South Coast Railway Zone headquarters in Visakhapatnam, a project long demanded by the local people for a separate railway zone.
Among the major projects was the NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, Anakapalli district, which received a foundation stone from Modi. With an investment of Rs 1.8 lakh crore, this hub will be the first of its kind under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
In his speech, Naidu emphasized the significance of a strong NDA government in Andhra Pradesh to unlock the state’s full potential. “Today marks a historic moment—I’ve never witnessed such monumental investments in a single day, in my lifetime or the history of Andhra,” he said. Naidu also highlighted the success of the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh, which includes BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena, achieving an unprecedented 93% strike rate in the 2024 elections, the highest in his political career.
“Our alliance will continue, and Prime Minister Modi will remain the leader of the country. BJP’s victories in Maharashtra and Haryana reflect his remarkable charisma, and mark my words, this success will be replicated in the upcoming elections in Delhi as well,” Naidu added.
