Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is set to commence a two-day visit to West Bengal, featuring a major roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday, May 28, ahead of the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. To facilitate smooth commuting during the Prime Minister’s campaign, the Kolkata Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory.
“In view of the public safety and convenience in connection with the visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to the city of Kolkata on 28.05.2024 and 29.05.2024, I, Vineet Kumar Goyal, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, do hereby order that movement and parking of vehicles for the city of Kolkata shall be regulated in the following manner notwithstanding any other orders in force on 28.05.2024 and 29.05.2024,” stated the traffic police.
Traffic Restrictions and Diversions on May 28 and May 29
- Tuesday, May 28:
The movement of all types of goods vehicles will be restricted in specific areas between 3pm and 9pm. Additionally, vehicle parking will be regulated or restricted during these hours. The affected routes include:

– Govt. Place East
– Esplanade Row East
– Esplanade Crossing

Restrictions will apply from 8am to 12:30pm on the following routes:

Biddhan Sarani will be closed for all vehicles from 3pm to 9pm on Tuesday. All heavy goods vehicles will be restricted in and around Raj Bhawan from 6am on Tuesday until 10pm on Wednesday. Traffic may also be diverted from arterial and feeder roads as necessary.
PM Modi’s Itinerary in West Bengal on May 28
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon. His itinerary includes:
2:30pm: Public meeting at Ashoknagar in Barasat constituency.
4:00pm: Public meeting in Jadavpur.
5:55pm: Floral tribute at the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose.
6:00pm: 2.5-km-long roadshow in Kolkata.
