Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft of luxury vehicles in Bengaluru, which they allegedly planned to resell in Rajasthan using forged documents, police announced on Sunday.
According to authorities, the gang, hailing from Rajasthan, targeted high-end cars in Bengaluru, employing advanced hacking techniques to bypass security systems and take control of the vehicles.
Girish, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the city’s east division, stated, “The Annapurneshwarinagar police successfully apprehended the three suspects on Saturday, who were linked to two recent car thefts. These high-tech thieves focused on luxury vehicles, yielding significant profits by transporting them to Rajasthan for resale with forged documentation.”
The suspects reportedly used specialized software to unlock car doors and start engines without keys, enabling them to steal vehicles with ease. Police have recovered a stolen Scorpio from Rajasthan and are currently searching for an Innova Crysta also believed to be in the gang’s possession. “We are collaborating with police departments in neighboring states to investigate similar thefts and identify any additional accomplices,” Girish added.
After arriving in Bengaluru, the suspects targeted vehicles in areas like Annapurneshwarinagar and Byadarahalli, quickly exiting the city with their stolen cars. Their most recent thefts included a Scorpio SUV and an Innova Crysta, each valued at over ₹30 lakh, which prompted increased police scrutiny and complaints from the public.
The police are working to determine the gang’s full extent and identify any other members involved in this theft ring.
