HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court confirmed on Thursday that a sealed investigation report provided by the state revealed that certain police officers were involved in tapping the phones of several High Court judges and creating profiles based on this illegal surveillance, reports Sagar Kumar Mutha.
In the same proceedings, Justice K. Sujana granted bail to two key police officers—suspended ACP N. Bhujanga Rao and retired DCP P. Radhakishan Rao—citing the prolonged investigation and the likely delays in trial. The two officers have been in custody for almost a year. Justice Sujana also referred to a Supreme Court order, presented by the defense, which granted bail to Mekala Thirupathanna, a suspended ASP and the prime accused in the case.
Justice Sujana mentioned the sealed report, which revealed that as part of a broader criminal conspiracy involving multiple individuals, not just one or two, but several judges of the Telangana High Court had their phones tapped, and profiles were created based on the intercepted communications.
