PATNA: Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishore on Thursday issued a three-day ultimatum to the Bihar government, demanding a resolution to the ongoing protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants. Kishore warned that if the issue is not addressed within the given timeframe, he will personally lead the protests.

Speaking to students at Gardanibagh in Patna, Kishore condemned the ‘lathi-charge’ on the protesting students and urged the NDA-led government to take immediate action on two key demands.

“The government must meet with student representatives and consider their demand for a re-examination. Yesterday, a student tragically took his life. The government must announce ₹10,00,000 compensation for the family of the deceased without delay,” Kishore stated.

He emphasized that this was his “ultimatum” to the government, adding, “If the issue is not resolved in three days and the students continue their protests, I will be at the forefront.”

The protests by BPSC aspirants, which began on December 13, were sparked by allegations of irregularities during the exam conducted by the commission. Candidates have accused the BPSC of leaking the question paper, delays in distributing the exam papers, and issues like receiving the question paper an hour late and receiving torn answer sheets, leading to suspicions of a leak.

Earlier in the day, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Yadav criticized the police for using “lathi charge” against the protesting students, calling it unjustified. “They shouldn’t have done this. It’s wrong,” Lalu Yadav said.

However, police authorities clarified that “mild force” was used to disperse the protesters and denied reports of injuries.
