Regional Container Lines (RCL) has inked a contract with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for the construction of two more 7,000 teu containerships.
It is the second containership order placed by RCL at Waigaoqiao following the first contract was signed in March this year.
Designed by SDARI, the vessel will have a length of 272.5 metres, a width of 42.8 metres and draft of 15 metres, featuring advantages of high efficiency and energy saving.
This deal makes Waigaoqiao’s order-on-hand volume for the same type of containership reach 34 vessels.
Thai-based container shipping Line RCL currently owns and operates a fleet of 45 vessels, mainly with sizes ranging between 388 teu and 6,310 teu.
