The alert disseminated reportedly claimed that incidents of arson, riots, and bomb blasts could occur due to the actions of “certain illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani infiltrators.” In response to this warning, security measures were intensified throughout Mumbai after law enforcement received a message via social media indicating that ‘Hindu-Muslim riots, arson, and bomb blasts’ might transpire during Eid on March 31 and April 1 in specific locations.

As reported by the news agency PTI, the warning specifically mentioned areas such as Dongri, where these potential acts could be perpetrated by “certain illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani infiltrators.” The post also tagged the Navi Mumbai police’s official account.

An official referenced in the report stated that the Navi Mumbai police informed the Mumbai police, leading to increased security across the financial hub and heightened patrolling in areas like Dongri. The official confirmed that no suspicious activities had been reported thus far.

“In addition to personnel from the Mumbai police, the Crime Branch, Anti-terrorism squad, and special branch are also maintaining heightened vigilance,” he noted.

The Navi Mumbai police acknowledged the warning message, responding, “Thank you for reaching out to Navi Mumbai Police; please provide your mobile number for further information.”

According to the Free Press Journal, the cyber cell has initiated a technical investigation to identify the individual responsible for the social media post.

Warning to Delhi Police

Furthermore, the same individual sent a comparable message to the Delhi Police and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. In another communication, he cautioned the capital’s police to remain vigilant during Eid on March 31 – April 1, as “certain illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani Muslims may instigate Hindu-Muslim riots or bomb blasts in Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Jahangirpuri.”

The Delhi police and UP police, who were also mentioned in this post, have yet to respond to the social media warning. Previously, the Delhi police had enhanced security protocols for Eid celebrations and the last Friday prayers in East Delhi, stating, “We have briefed the staff of every police station in the area.”
