Dehradun: A high-speed Mercedes wreaked havoc on Rajpur Road near Sai Baba Temple on Wednesday night, leaving four people dead and two others critically injured.
According to police reports, the vehicle—a silver Mercedes with a Chandigarh registration—struck pedestrians before the driver fled the scene. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect based on eyewitness accounts.
“Around 8 PM on Old Mussoorie Road, a speeding vehicle, believed to be a Mercedes, hit multiple people, resulting in four fatalities,” said Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh. “The victims were laborers, and a nearby scooty was also struck, injuring two individuals.”
Officials identified two of the deceased as Mansha Ram (30) and Ranjit (35), both laborers from Ayodhya, while efforts are ongoing to verify the identities of the remaining victims. The injured were rushed to a local hospital, where they are currently stable.
Authorities have traced 11-12 vehicles linked to the case and are intensifying efforts to locate the driver.
