KOTA: A 21-year-old student preparing for the NEET-UG exam at a coaching institute in Kota was found dead by suicide in his rented room in the Jawahar Nagar area on Wednesday night.
The student, identified as Parshuram Jatav from Barsana in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, did not leave a suicide note. However, his father, Khacharmal, blamed the “NEET scam” for his son’s tragic death.
Parshuram last spoke to his father around 1:15 pm on Wednesday, expressing a desire to return home. His father agreed, but later attempts to contact Parshuram went unanswered.
Concerned about not seeing him since the evening, the house owner knocked on Parshuram’s door around 11:30 pm, finding it bolted from inside. The caretaker alerted the police, who broke open the door and discovered the student’s body.
This marks the 14th suicide by a coaching student in Kota this year, following 26 such cases last year. Rajasthan minister Madan Dilawar stated that the rising number of student suicides in the state is “not unusual,” despite the ongoing concerns surrounding mental health among students in the coaching hub.
