On Sunday, thousands protested across more than 130 cities in 25 countries, calling for justice for the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered last month at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The protests initially started in Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and Singapore and later spread to various European cities, with sixty demonstrations planned in the United States.

In Stockholm, Sweden, a large group of women gathered at Sergels Torg square to sing Bengali songs and display signs demanding accountability for the crime and enhanced safety for Indian women.

Dipti Jain, a British citizen and former student of Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital who organized the global protests, expressed her shock and dismay over the brutality of the crime. Jain had previously organized a protest in the UK last month for female doctors.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case on Monday, 9th September.
