Heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, hit Delhi-NCR on Friday morning, leading to significant waterlogging and major traffic disruptions in several key areas. The deluge has impacted major roads and underpasses, causing difficulties for commuters and prompting advisories from the Delhi Traffic Police.
Waterlogging has severely affected traffic on Anuvrat Marg in both directions between 100 Foota Road and Lado Sarai Road.
The Dhaula Kuan Flyover on Ring Road is experiencing severe waterlogging, disrupting traffic in both directions from Naraina to Moti Bagh. Vir Banda Bairagi Marg is facing similar issues at the Azad Market underpass, affecting both carriageways. Significant traffic disruptions are also reported on Aurobindo Marg in both directions from INA to AIIMS due to waterlogging under the AIIMS Flyover.
Additionally, traffic is impacted on both carriageways of the Outer Ring Road from Shantivan to ISBT and in the opposite direction due to waterlogging near Y-point Saleemgarh and Nigambodh Ghat.
The Delhi Traffic Police are advising commuters to stay informed and plan their routes in advance to avoid heavily waterlogged areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that this weather pattern will continue over the next few days, with generally cloudy skies and varying levels of rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
For June 28, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected, with wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h. The weather is anticipated to be slightly cooler on June 29, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C, alongside light to moderate rain or thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h. Temperatures are expected to decrease to 34°C on June 30, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds predicted.
