SULTANPUR: Two teenage girls lost their lives on Monday after being struck by a train on the Lucknow-Varanasi route, according to police reports. The incident occurred on the railway tracks within the jurisdiction of the Chanda police station in Sultanpur district.
The victims, Rani (15) and Poonam (16), were residents of Dalit Basti in Kasaipur village and had gone out to graze goats. Chanda police station SHO Ravindra Singh confirmed that the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination. Rani was a Class 9 student, while Poonam was in Class 10.
