A three-year-old girl lost her life in a boat collision in Assam’s Dhubri district on Saturday evening. The accident, which occurred in the Tipkai River, also left six individuals injured, all of whom were hospitalized but reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities stated that the child was initially missing, prompting a search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) that lasted until 1 AM on Sunday. Her body was later discovered floating approximately 100 meters from the collision site. While several others were unaccounted for, they were rescued with assistance from locals, and some managed to swim to safety.

Reports indicate that one of the boats was transporting passengers to a wedding when it collided with two other boats carrying heavy machinery. “The passenger boat attempted to signal the other vessels, but the two boats with the excavator were unable to stop due to their weight,” an official explained.
