Lucknow: A devastating accident occurred on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway in Mirzapur district, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and serious injuries to three others. The collision, involving a speeding truck and a tractor trolley carrying laborers, happened around 1 a.m. on Friday.
Mirzapur Superintendent of Police, Abhinandan, reported that the incident took place on GT Road as the laborers were returning home to Varanasi after completing rooftop work in Bhadohi. The truck struck the tractor trolley from behind near Kacchwa.
All the victims were identified as residents of villages within the Mirzamurad police station area in Varanasi. The deceased include Bhanu Pratap (25), Vikas Kumar (20), Anil Kumar (35), Suraj Kumar (22), Sanohar (25), Rakesh Kumar (25), Prem Kumar (40), Rahul Kumar (26), Nitin Kumar (22), and Roshan (27). The identity of one victim remains unknown.
The injured individuals—Aakash (18), Jamuni (26), and Ajay Saroj (50)—are receiving treatment at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
