Two people lost their lives and 40 others were injured when a private bus fell from a flyover in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred near Pachore town around 1:30 AM while the bus was en route to Pichhore town in Shivpuri district, according to PTI.

The driver lost control of the bus, causing it to fall to the ground below, said Akansha Sharma, in-charge of Pachore police station. One of the deceased has been identified as Harjat Singh (28), while the identity of the other victim is yet to be confirmed.

Out of the injured, 19 people sustained critical injuries and have been referred to hospitals in Indore. The remaining injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Shajapur, Biora, and Pachore, the official added.

The police have initiated a search for the driver and conductor, who fled the scene after the accident. A case has been registered against them, as reported by PTI.

An eyewitness informed the police that the accident occurred after the bus driver lost control due to large potholes on the road, leading to a collision with a car.
