NEW DELHI: The United States is set to deport another batch of illegal Indian immigrants, with two flights scheduled to land in Amritsar on February 15 and 16.
According to official sources cited by PTI, the second batch of 119 deported Indian nationals will arrive on February 15, with the plane expected to land around 10 PM. Among the deportees, 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, three from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Another flight carrying additional deportees is expected to arrive on February 16.
This development follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent meeting with US President Donald Trump, where both leaders discussed the urgent need to combat human trafficking networks that exploit individuals with false promises of better opportunities abroad.
“This is not just an issue for India but a global challenge. Anyone who enters and resides in another country illegally has no legal right to stay there,” PM Modi stated during a joint press conference with Trump at the White House.
Earlier, on February 5, a US military aircraft carrying 104 deported Indian nationals landed at Amritsar’s Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. That batch included 30 individuals from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, three each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and two from Chandigarh.
